The Face Silicon Fuzz kit, 18,50

The silicon version of the Fuzz Face was something that evolved over time. They were not the original incarnation of the Fuzz Face from 1966. Original Fuzz Face designs used germanium transistors like NKT275's, NKT274's, or AC128's. These transistors gave a certain warm, organic tone to your guitar signal.

The Fuzz Face Pedal: Germanium VS Silicon. August 14, 2021 by Connor Brown. The Fuzz Face pedal is a classic fuzz pedal. It was first built in the mid-1960's at a time of revolutionary rock and roll. A period when artists, inventors, and engineers were working around the clock to develop new sounds and electronic abilities.

The Fuzz Face is an effects pedal for electric guitar, used also by some electric bass players.. Silicon transistors were used in later editions of the pedal. Silicon transistors provided for a more stable operation, but have a different, harsher sound.

Effect Schematic I used couple of websites for getting the schematic, here's the schematic for the effect: Silicon Fuzz Face Schematic If you look it up, there are several versions of the Fuzz Face. In the above schematic, I kind of used the simplest one. It uses NPN transistors, BC109 in the schematic.

The earliest Silicon Fuzz Faces were quite distinct from the original NKT275 Germanium variety - being more strident and aggressive - and utilising BC108C and BC109C transistors, the third variety to be utilised was the BC183L which sounded a lot more like the warmer Germanium.

The Epsilon Silicon Fuzz is based on the 1970 version of the Dallas-Arbiter Fuzz Face, the first to use uses NPN silicon transistors. While Dallas had made the shift from germanium to silicon in 1969, the first versions used PNP transistors in a positive-ground arrangement just like the germanium version. The Epsilon PCB includes a switchable.
